Jamaica, VA – Mother Nature has been relentless when it comes to racing At Virginia Motor Speedway as rain takes the fourth race of the season forcing officials to cancel activities for Truckin Thunder / Northern Neck Chevrolet Scout Night.

“This is so frustrating , we tried to wait this one out but with continued rain for the next two hours and wind gusts of up to 40 miles an hour we are forced to cancel for the fourth time this season”, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer.

Anyone with “Free Admission Tickets” for May 21 can utilize them on the rescheduled date of June 11. The WILL NOT be good for the May 21 or June 4 events.

Next Saturday May 21 the speedway will move over to the mud bog facility to host the first of two big Mud Bog events for the 2016 season as The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway hosts the 9th Annual Down & Dirty Mud Mayhem presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports. Additional sponsorship provided by Aaron’s, Atkins Propane and Petroleum, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One and Truckin Thunder.

There will be seven classes of “Mud Maniacs” in action ranging from Super Stock to Unlimited X Tractor with cash payouts in all classes.

Not only will fans get to see hordes of trucks splashing through the 200 foot Mud Bog pit but they will also get the opportunity to see some of the region’s best Mud Dragsters covering the 200 foot Mud Sling pit in under three seconds.

New for 2016 will be the addition of the Unlimited X Tractor division. They will be the first division to run a short course during competition.

Gates and registration will open at 9am with Single Eliminations for Super Stock A, B; Modified A (Small tire), B (Big Tire), Unlimited Bog, Unlimited X Tractor, Pro Modified A, Pro Modified B and X, XX classes beginning at 12 noon. Registration and inspection for all classes ends at 11:30pm. Rules for each class are now available at the speedway’s website www.thepitatvms.com.

Admission for Mud Mayhem is Adults – $15, Children 11 – 17 years old – $12 and Children 10 and under FREE with a paying adult.

16” coolers are welcomed but no glass is allowed. There is plenty of free lit parking and camping (no hookups) is allowed at no charge on a first come first served basis.

The Pit at VMS is located on the grounds of Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway and is situated on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA. The Speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
