Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will host WXGM Night at the Races this Saturday August 28th. The night’s activities will include the Victory Lap Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars in Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. With only two point races left in the chase for the Championships the action is sure to be intense.

Heading into this weekend’s WXGM Night all four of the divisional title chases are tight. In the Victory Lap Late Model division Scott Adams (746) of Chester, VA continues to sit atop the points with a 48 point advantage over both Stevie Long (698) of Mechanicsville, MD and rookie Tim Shelton (698) of Fredericksburg, VA. In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman defending Champion Roger Jamerson (698) of Mechanicsville, VA holds a 16 point advantage over Michael Roop (682) of Stafford, VA with Tony Wood (663) of New Kent, VA still in the hunt only 35 points out of first. In the Budweiser Modifieds defending Champion Dan Arnold (714) of Petersburg, VA holds a slim 1 point lead over Brian Maxey (713) of King George, VA and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car division the top seven drivers have a shot at the title only separated by 33 points. Leading the group is defending Champion Brett Adkins (654) of Gloucester, VA who holds a slim 1 point margin over Ryan Toole (653) of Richmond, VA. Adkins took the win last time out just two days after have gallbladder surgery.

Competitor gates for Saturday, August 28th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 6pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday August 28th: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars (20 laps). All track divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features.

Adult admission is just $10, Senior $8, Military $5, Students 13 –17 yrs old $7, Children 7 – 12 yrs old $4 and Children 6 and under free.

USA 100 – Put September 18th on your calendar as the speedway will host the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers for the $15,000 to win USA 100. It will be the first time in three years that the Lucas Oil series has been back to Jamaica, VA. The event will also include an AMRA Modified $2500 to win event that boasts a $15,555 total purse. To enhance the fans racing experience the speedway has installed a short wave FM transmitter and all of the evening’s action can be heard at 95.5 FM. So bring your portable radio headset and enjoy hearing all the action.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway, an ASA Member Track, is a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA.
